Children Trust Michigan (CTM) is committed to bringing resources to parents and caregivers that meet the diverse needs of the communities that we serve. We are striving to ensure that these resources are not only accessible but equitable and inclusive.
CTM funds community-based organizations in all 83 counties of Michigan, and we are committed to increasing the accessibility of information for all parents and caregivers via this website. Our goal is to be a trusted source of information, share activities, provide workshops, development opportunities, and social connections, as well as research for all families.
We believe that all families are unique and that a one-size-fits-all approach is outdated. Therefore, we will work hard to offer support in various ways. We know that strong families build strong kids, that strengthens communities.
Parenting is hard, and children do not come with instructions. As the old saying goes, “It takes a community,” has never been truer than it is today. However, in today’s society, these networks can look different. Some families live by extended family; others seek their like-minded networks in virtual spaces. No matter how parents and caregivers find their support, there is still one thing in common: we all need support! Below, you will find resources that are suitable for families. Then, you will see additional sections for resources specific to additional unique family constructs. To discover more data about Michigan-specific families, check out this fantastic resource from United for Alice.
Through the last decade, the importance of fathers has become a focal point. Dads already know they are essential and finally have the research support that moms have always had.
Children Trust Michigan and MDHHS recognize kinship caregivers for their commitment to caring for children. They provide these children with connections, security, and ties that align with their cultural heritage, family, and community.
Foster families are important families for thousands of children each year. Children Trust Michigan (CTM) values foster family voices and wants to make sure that all foster families have the resources they need. CTM aims to bring resources from Michigan as well as national resources to the foster families that visit our site.
Children Trust Michigan knows that every family looks different, and ALL families need access to resources. Various in-person locations and expanding web-based resources are available for LGBTQIA2S+ families and individuals.
Teen parents face unique challenges and need additional support and resources. The voice of teen parents is critical so that the resources and supports that are needed can be identified.
Over 2.3 million families have at least one family member with a disability. These special needs families need unique support and resources. Children Trust Michigan is working diligently to elevate the voices of special needs parents to help direct the resources, needs, and supports that Michigan families need.
For the versions with a pet door, a child’s torso can fit through the secondary opening and, for the other versions that are adjustable, a child’s torso can fit through the opening between the gate slat and side wall. These violations pose an entrapment hazard to children.
