Kinship

The Kinship Care Resource Center funded through Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) in collaboration with the Family Resource Centers funded by Children Trust Michigan (CTM) are elevating support for kinship families. Michigan families can access GrandFact that were composed from grandfamilies.org. CTM and MDHHS recognize kinship caregivers for their commitment to caring for children. They are providing these children with connections, security, and ties that a line with their cultural heritage, family, and community. Kinship care is the full-time care, nurturing, and protection of children by family members, close family friends, or other important adults in the child’s life. This could include grandparents, aunts, uncles, older siblings, family friends, or members of their tribes or clans. Many families do not know where to access resources or how to get help. CTM is committed to working with kinship families to not only elevate their voice but to also be a bridge to connect them with resources.
