In addition to being the state lead for Prevent Child Abuse America, Children Trust Michigan works with Michigan’s Children for advocacy against child abuse and neglect. Michigan’s Children meets with some of our local partners to train and educate them regarding advocacy and effective communication with government officials.

Children Trust Michigan partners with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on a variety of initiatives and projects implemented by CTM.   From Family Resource Centers to Training and Education, this partnership ensures that CTM’s partners and their programs remain a pivotal part of the prevention continuum for Michigan’s children and families.

Children Trust Michigan is a member of the National Support Family Network (NFSN), which works with state networks across the country to promote positive outcomes for all children, families, and communities. Through the work of the National Support Family Network, CTM’s Statewide Family Resource Center Network has utilized the Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support training to create a common language across different kinds of Family Strengthening and Family support programs. Michigan’s Family Resource Center Network also attends NFSN member network meetings, providing a platform for collaboration among various FRC state networks. These meetings enable participants to engage in discussions, exchange ideas, and leverage collective efforts to bring back to Michigan to help serve our families and communities.

Since 1972, Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) has led the way in building awareness, providing education, and inspiring hope to everyone involved in the effort to prevent the child abuse and neglect of our nation's children. Working with state chapters, PCA America provides leadership to promote and implement prevention efforts at both the national and local levels. With the help of state chapters and concerned individuals, PCA America is valuing children, strengthening families, and engaging communities nationwide.

Children Trust Michigan has served as Michigan's co-chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America since 1999. We currently partner with Michigan's Children as co-chapters of Prevent Child Abuse Michigan. Until 2009, the former Children's Charter of the Courts of Michigan served as our co-chapter.

Children Trust Michigan, through its partnership with Prevent Child Abuse America, will:

Provide leadership in state-level advocacy to enhance prevention policies and programs in Michigan.

Increase public awareness of child abuse prevention through the development and distribution of resource materials and by working with PCA America on the promotion of national media campaigns.

Evaluate programs and act as a source of comprehensive information and research on child abuse prevention.

Promote promising strategies supported by evidence-based research at both the state and local levels so that communities have access to the information, skills, and resources necessary to provide meaningful services for families with young children.
